Such mods would mean repainting most of the car to get a good color match, etc...

Actually I was quite interested in possibly replacing all my panels, but I spoke with the guy that does all my body work and he changed my mind. As I still want my 8 to be a beutiful street car as well as nasty on the track when i'm done he pointed out that no matter how much work you put into it, under the right light (i.e. good sun) you'll still be able to see the cross-hatch of the carbon. He recently did this type of work on a 911 for someone else and pointed it out because he thought (correctly) I wouldn't be happy with the look.
Just something to think about. If I was going for a pure track car I would consider it (but then I would probably go with a better base car in that case), but not given that I still want it to look as elegant as ever.
