There was a thread recently on the "modern" jag-lovers list about a vibration problem with the 18" Pirellis on the XKRs and XK8s. I have 18" XKR rims with the stock Pirellis on them on my '99 XK8 and have a slight vibration felt through the steering column.

So, I have a slight question as to whether the loose oil filter could have been caused by this constant vibration. It seems unlikely however, especially since the oil filter was loose enough to be turned at least half a turn by hand, and the leak developed suddenly rather than gradually.

The wheels already went through a balance at the dealership which didn't solve the problem. Also, although I mentioned in my previous message that I recently had the car in for a 30k service, the brand new wheels and tires were only put on the car about 10k miles ago.
