I have 14,000 miles on my XKR now. I have to say that I do like the car. Although, at 8,000 miles the motor developed a ticking sound. I brought the car into service, they discribed the sound as a knocking sound coming from the lower part of the motor. Well, needless to say, they replaced the motor. I still wonder if the new motor will develop the same knock..so far no. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you purchased a rear wind deflector. I am considering one and looking for vendors. Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately I don't have an answer on the wind deflector. I do have some questions for you though. :)

Did they give you any kind of more detailed diagnosis of what was wrong with your old engine or say what might have led to the problem? Also, did your warranty get modified or extended in any way with the new engine?

I found a wind screen by calling the dealer. I havent seen it yet so I'll let you know if its any good. They want $750 for it plus installation, once I see it I'll decide. As for the motor... They replaced it under warrenty, of course, they said the Engineers wanted it back for fault analysis. I asked them if they could share with me the results, he said it would be unlikely that even they (the dealership) would get that information. Removeal and installation was I think a 3 day affair, removing the engine from below the car. Since then, the car has developed an exhaust leak on the left manifold, they tried to fix it once and improved it but didnt fix it. I am scheduled for another service this month to try again. He told me there is a "new" gasket for the manifold. hmmmm Maybe an Engineering problem? Anyway, no they did not extend the warrenty, quote "its just like replacing a dead battery, the warrenty doesnt get extended". I have to say, even given these problems the dealer has treated me well with loaner cars and such. I am trying hard to be optimistic hoping they will resolve all the problems, in the meantime I am racking up miles on the XKR, 14,000 miles since March or so. Its a fun car to drive.
