Depressed Dealer As Well !! (archive)

I have been following the correspondence regarding the possible delay of the F Type with interest.
I have had my name against one for a very long time...I was hoping to be one of the first in the country to own one.
To that end I have been "keeping in" with my local dealer and am currently on my third S Type, with which I have been very pleased.
(I was one of the very first with that too and the reaction when it was first released was tremendous).

To say I am disappointed at the news is an understatement....I had planned my next few years motoring around the F Type.
I even bought the number plate for it three years ago.
I have Type S and also Type F (Well T 7 PEF...but you get the picture!)
I went in to see my dealer this morning and to say they are depressed is also an understatement....not only is the F type delayed (With the proviso below), but they have now been told the new large saloon will not appear as soon as promised.
They have a lot of very frustrated customers, and I have never felt a depressed atmosphere such as that this morning.

As one other person in the forum pointed out there is little point in getting uptight with Jaguar personel....they have their reasons...BUT they could have announced this in a much better way.
I heard it on the local Midlands TV news and couldn't believe it at first, after all the "will we / won't we" business.
Then while in the States recently I heard it had definitely been signed off for production.

Apparently yesterday the big - wigs had a meeting and there may be some further news...but I don't imagine it will be good.

Why the heck couldn't someone at Jaguar have had the wit to ensure that all prospective customers, especially those that had placed monetary deposits, be informed personally.
It would not have hurt to apologise with a proper explanation and perhaps the offer of some incentive to "keep faith with the marque".
A small discount on a current model would not have been out of the question to tide us through to the time when we MAY get our dream car.

Instead of that I am thoroughly disillusioned and am considering like many others on this forum where I will go for my motoring pleasure.

Wake up Jaguar...you have turned the marque round in just a few years and yet you treat your customers like this.
I am nearly 60 and am on my 58th car, many of which I have been proud to say were Jaguars.

What now ?
