I think Jaguar's view would be that the XJS and latterly the XK8 are replacements for the series III V12 E-Type, which is a very different car to the original 3.8 series I car. My hope and I suspect yours is that the F-Type will recapture the spirit of the original 1961 car. The concept car certainly does this, how much the production car is compromised by practical considerations is yet to be seen.
