Dealer deposit now or wait (archive)

This has probably been asked 100 times before but:
I want to get an early F-type in 2005/2006 when they are released to replace my 2001 mr2 and to commiserate my self with my big 4-0. Is it best to leave a deposit with a dealer now or wait and try to import one in 2005? Is my money safe with a dealer? which dealers in the London/SE would you recommend?
What about leaving a deposit with a european dealer?

Any advice would be very much appreciated....thanks!
