Dear geoff,
I have an XKR with a Startac mobile already fitted. It is marginaly more use than an Abacus. Don't even consider taking up the Startac. Obvbiously Jaguar bought 1000's of these at a cheap price. It is really bottom of the range. Jaguar want 1200 to take out the Startac and put in an up to date model. |My wife had this model some 3 years ago and its software is useless. We still have it in our garage. You are welcome to it. I am persueing Jaguar on the grounds that this one does not work as it keeps switching itself off and is still under warrenty. Not hopeful.

I'm delighted with my XJ8, except for one thing...
I want to fit a mobile car kit, and the jag dealers told me the only way to have a mobile that functions with the dashboard controls is to by the Jaguar (Jag version of Motorola Star Tac) phone and car kit for 996

This seems steep - has anyone had a normal car kit fitted and integrated with the dashboard / steering wheel controls?

Did you ever get an answer to your question? Your inquiry only seemed to generate the other pressing question about this car, the apparent unavailability of an aftermarket cd changer. I have been seeking both a solution to the car phone problem (the thought of paying extortion money to jaguar for a carphone remains out of the question) and an aftermarket solution in the form of an adapter for a cd changer (prompted by the same reluctance to pay extortion money). Please let me know whether you have found any viable solution to either problem. Thanks.
