I get on the phone (hands free) to my dealer requesting to book it in when a big red light comes on, the kind lady suggests I stop. Good idea i thought, especially as I am not going any further.
So I pull off the M4 J6 (Slough), calls Jag assistance they take a few details and they contact a pick-up firm to come get me.
After about 10 mins I start the car up again and find drive is working, although it wouldn't get out of first.
The pick-up firm (forget how they where) said they will be with me in about 90 mins, as this is friday afternoon and I could already tell the problem was terminal. I decide to punch up the nearest dealer on the sat nav (good system by the way). As they are only 4.4 miles away from my position I try and make it there. Well after about 45 mins I am within 150 yards of the place (Meads Of Burnham) and the Jag has finally given up the ghost and refuses to find anymore drive.
So I walk to the dealer, they promptly come out mob handed and push it onto the forecourt, much to the delight of the oppostion garage next door.
This is where the real fun starts, because I had driven the car to the dealership JAG assistance said it was the resonsibility of the garage to supply me with a courtesy car. Well the dealer had given them all out to punters (being Jubilee weekend and all) and had none. Jag assisatnce where particulay unhelpfull and where sticking to the script. I got the car to the dealer so the dealer has to provide me with a car.
I got very cross as you might imagine, spouting at them saying its not my fault the gearbox has gone, the warrenty says you will provide a suitable replacement blah blah. eventually after the dealer and myself had been on at them for almost an hour, they eventually relented and put me in touch with enterprise car rental.
To summarise:
Jag asistance - well quite frankly wern't, most unhelpfull.
The Dealer - Excellent, even though they are not my local dealer!
My question is anybody else had this sort of problem ?
