Does the stereo you installed have the fiber optic connection on it? The factory stereo is also the ICE(in car entertainment) module. You will certainly have problems without this module in place. The fiber optic line is a closed loop and with the ICE missing, data from the other modules will be lost. Thats why there isn't an aftermarket CD changer available yet.

I just finished installing a 3rd party Stereo into my X-type today. I (gracefully) removed the standard Factory deck (AM/FM/Cassette), and installed an MP3 Player.

No wires were cut, and the Factory deck could be reinstalled in under 15 minutes...

I spent too much time puzzling out the pinouts for the undocumented deck, and am willing to share this information.
It doesn't look right pasted into this box, but drop me an e-mail if you are interested. (Power, and Speaker info, but not Steering Remote, yet)

Does anyone else here have info regarding a nice (wood trim?) install kit for a standard deck? I had to cut my own from blank stock, and my carpentry doesn't quite live up to the rest of the interior trim...
