You know what they told me, that if I bought or financed the car then they would get me a new rim because then I would own the car but since I'm leasing it they would only change it w/ the spare. To me that is a slap in the face!!!!


I agree that a gash in the rim needs to be fixed and Jag should repair it, especially if initially they are responsible. But Caveat Emptor applies here as it does everywhere else. You must always give a large product a careful once-over before you sail off into the sunset with it, e.g., a rental car at the airport. I disagree in principle that any lessor is owed the same level of attention as a client who buys the auto to keep and who pays more over a longer period of time. I made a more serious committment to the company by buying their product, while lessees are basically long-term renters. The same analogy between renting an apartmnet and purchasing a condo. I do think that it's quite fair that an owner gets a little more from the company than one who has opted for the more temporary arrangement of a lease. That said, I think that your rim should be buffed - it ain't a big job - for the reason that the car is under warranty. Customer relations count at every level.
