Why in the world would anyone want their car to beep when it locks and unlocks? Do you enjoy annoying every female in the parking lot every time you get out of or in to your car? Cars should not "beep" unless you are needed to prod the sleeping driver in front of you, or if a car next to you is about to hit you. Don't push that button twice, it's just plain annoying to everyone within earshot of your car!
If you listen closely, the locking mechanism is noisy enough to hear without the horn sounding!
Indeed. I believe it actually illegal now in Europe for cars to give an audible confirmation of alarm setting or unsetting. This is because people complain about the noise when someone locks their car at 2:00am!
You are right about Europe...
Rented a 2.0L Passat and drove about 2000 KMS over the last 3 weeks...in FR IT and Switzerland. No one ..repeat no one sets the beep on the remote key lock. This is just one thing that makes Euro drivers much better than we in the US.. I wish we could import a few Ferrari and BMW drivers to cruise the left lanes on our US freeways to move the idiots over where they belong....it was a joy to drive the Autoroutes...and AutoStradas
