Good story. Luckily we live in a crime free society where the police both on and off duty can go after honest citizens having too much fun. Fun in your car is too dangerous for society.
I had the opportunity to rent a BMW 330 for 7 days while my jag was being serviced. Thought you would like to know that the BMW seems like its faster. I took it through several test scenarios on roads I drive daily, and did this after I became comfortable with pushing the car to the limits.
The BMW is real fun to go fast and try and slide around turns right & left corners etc and I thought the car was basically faster than mine, However, after getting my X type back, I did the same tests and found the X type was just as fast and seemed to handle as well. I think the fact that the BMW had lower profile tires helped in the handling dept, but it had more road noise, especially on the freeway.
I definetly pushed the BMW also, as in this week, A cop writing a ticket heard and saw me breaking from 90 up a canyon road i live in and yelled at me. He told me he'd be up their every night looking for me and he was going to nail me. (i was like, o.k., I wont have this car in a few days anyways, so good luck) A day later, an off-duty cop pulls next to me after a fun little slide session on a curvy road, and says he's callin in the plate if he ever see's that again and he know's I live in the canyon. Yea whatever. It was dam fun though and I certainly dont drive my jag as wreckless.
To sum it up, Im glad I got the jaguar rather than the BMW.
Its quieter and more comfortable. If Jag works out the bugs on my next visit, I'll be really pleased.
p.s. sorry for rambling..
