Kim, save yourself a lot of aggravation and get a new car. I'm not familiar with the xj6 history and problems, however with any car 117,000 is alot of miles and your bound to have to start replacing stuff.
If you do go with this, can you get some sort of limited warranty? I've owned a few used cars and it sucks. New cars, 3 year lease, 2 is even better is the way to go.
Think about the Bumper to Bumper warranty you'd be passing up.
