The layer over the wood is plastic not depth.
I disagree. I think that the wood looks very rich looking, and not fake at all. I think the gloss finish has a lot of depth to it, as opposed to plastic.

Problem is wood also looks like plastic. If you look at earlier Jags wood has a satin finish not this high gloss used by every manufacturer so you cant tell wood from plastic. Jag should do satin finish to distinguish its cars from others. Satin wont last as long as high gloss but a satin polyester coating will last at least 10 years.
Mike,

I totaly agree with you on the sport package. Even though, I like the XJS very much, the body colored grill and bumpers just do not seem right with the X. Also, I just mounted the off-the-market wood kit, and overall I am satisfied with the look, despite the color match not being perfect and some areas looking cheezy, like sticking a sticker on top of the original area. That is why I wish Jaguar would manufacture the X-type with the wood trim for the center console because the plastic makes the X appear incomplete. However, since the new S-type does not have the center wood console either, I doubt that Jaguar would make that change.

Hugh
