As you will see from other posts on the site, Jaguar has redesigned the trunk lock mechanism. The escape release cable has been repositioned in the new lock. Your dealer should have the new parts in stock. I had mine replaced two weeks ago. The new lock is much quieter and the trunck opens and closes smoothly (it used to feel like it was stuck).
Today, after I put something in the trunk of my X-type 2.5, I closed it. Then, I realized the locking mechanism seems to have a problem to lock the lid. No matter how hard I slamed it closed, the lid still didn't lock up. At the end, I realized the "jaguar" button on the lid was somehow stucked in the "pressed" position. I put it once and then I could close the lid. Did anybody experience the same probme in closing the trunk lid? Or the mechanism might require a replacement or repair? Thanks
