A key way to look at the data is not relative rankings but what happened to each brand in one year. BMW improved, but not as much as some others so its ranking slipped. Lexus got a liitle worse, but had such a lead to start with they are still #1 (but may be playing the hare to somebody else's tortoise - something to watch in the future). Volvo is the biggest improvement. Mercedes "improved" so slightly it is probably not statistically significant. Jaguar plunged - probably attributable to X-Type teething problems. Big luxury cars like XJ's & 7ers don't sell in large enough numbers to affect "problems per 100 vehicles" much, as they comprise very few of the 100. Jaguar debugging the X-Type should easily outweigh any issues with the new XJ, so I predict next year we'll see a significant improvement in Jag's ranking.
