Most vehicles these days require powertrain removal for a lot of repairs.
What vehicle manufacturer states a life expectancy beyond 100k miles? Most x-types are sold on lease and when they are turned in will get certified and resold with 100k warranty just like all other Jags.
As for the Ford name all over the vehicle you must not be looking at the XJs or XKs very closely as it's all over them as well.
By the way, you are not stuck fixing it. You could always find a new job. I'm sure the people you work with would be much better off without seeing your smiling face every day and enjoying your outstanding attitude.
