I had the trunk loaded today with about 60 pounds of stuff and the car definitely rode smoother. Maybe you want to give this a try.

Lowering the tire pressure on the rear tires from 33psi to 30psi will help also.

I found this helps a lot. When I got my X-Type in January I thought the ride was a little hard. I'd had the car for a couple of months before I got round to checking the tyre pressures.

I found that they were all at around the 44/46 mark! I dropped them all to 32 and the ride was transformed. Handling doesn't seem to have been affected (but then, I don't tend to thrash around very much).
