First, you should concede that Lexus makes a fine automobile that, while it may not have the style of a Jag, no one is going to confuse it with a Kia. Second, Lexus is second to none when it comes to service issues. Yes there is the problem with the oil sludge buildup, but that is perhaps the first black mark on Lexus in 12 some odd years. Third, pound for pound, you do get a few more amenities in the Lexus. Fourth, AWD is not as important to someone from down south as opposed to us northerners (speaking for myself).
And, fifth, the only one you have to impress is yourself. If you bought a Jaguar to impress everyone else, ya got some self esteem issues, don't you think?
So, why don't we try to rise above the fray, stop feeding the trolls, and get back to enjoying our cars.
Thank you for coming to my defense, Chris. Yes, I was a real X-Type 2.5 owner - for all of 5 1/2 excruiating months. I still have the pictures of my Jag to prove it -

(note the same licence plate)
And, of course, I'm not a Lexus dealer or in any way related to one. I have posted here and on jagtalk.com a few times in the past. Tot Doc and Ian Morrison can vouch for that. I may have posted with my full name, though.
As for "down grading", or leading a "bland existance", well, if that means not having to take my car into a dealership that doesn't know what they are doing (or even gives a damn about their customers) every month or more, than I'll take that life any day. If it means driving a car that is flawless from day one, versus one that had serious problems from the day I drove it off the lot and seemed to be accumulating them by the mile, then that's the life for me! In just the week I've had the Lexus, I can feel that my stress level has dropped tremendously. It's actually fun to drive a car without a vibration or rattle, one that doesn't snap at me each time I use the brakes, one that allows the passenger to fasten their seat belt, one that allows me to close the trunk whenever I want it to close, one who's seat doesn't rock to and fro, etc., etc. Gee, all that non-trouble with a more powerful engine and it was stickered less, too! Oh, and just found out today that my insurance premiums will be well over $300 less per year! Now, I wonder why that is? (big grin)
Again, I appreciate the support I've received here. To the others, well, they must just be lurkers from the BMW boards....you know how those guys are! (evil grin)
[Sorry, guys, but a couple of dudes here just got under my skin.]
In his defense,
He did have a profile set up on www.x-typecentral.com with pictures of his X-Type. I removed it the other day per his request.
CT
You are obviously a lexus dealer !!!
This is the first time i've seen him post.
