I don't think there is much you can do to get a softer ride. Two suggestions, however.

1. Make sure your tires are not overinflated. Check the recommended pressures.

2. I don't know how true it is, but I read that the OEM Continental tires on the X-type are harder riding than some other brands. Check out the reviews at Tire Rack and maybe you will find a tire that is less harsh. If you want specific information and recommendations, I'd give them a call.

I really like my X-type. I have had no problems at all with it. My problem lies with me - I would like a smoother ride. I know, it's not the car's fault. It is designed to have a firm ride.

BUT, does anyone know if there is a reasonable way to improve the smoothness of my ride? For example, shocks, tires, etc. I have no mechanical ability or knowledge, but I would really like to find a method to accomplish a smoother ride. Any help would be appreciated. THANKS.
