Also, I introduced myself to the new manager. I told him that I hope (wishful thinking) some of the minor problems, like the leaking windshield nozzles, rocking seat, drive shaft, and the "wine glass" noise had been fixed. He said that he has never heard of any of the problems, including the drive shaft. A salesman in the office also said that of all of the new x-types they have sold, “not one of them has had any problems.” Of course, I didn’t believe them. When they asked me where I got this information. I tried to tell them about this and another message board. They both said not to believe everything I read.
When I came home and told my husband, he became worried that we were not in the best hands.
I told him we’d see come Monday. I did my homework and negotiated the deal when we first ordered the car. I shaved off almost 4k from MSRP. I also gave them a $1,000 deposit. I have been waiting patiently because our other beloved car was totaled, so there is no extra car for me to drive. Surgery has kept me home for almost 3 months, so I really didn’t need to drive a car since my husband has a company vehicle. We have two other Jeeps, but when our two daughters left home, we let them use them.
Anyway, I am curious to know how the experience is for other people who have ordered their x-types. Thanks to this board. I have learned a lot. I know once I receive my new Jag. I am going to love it. Of course, I expect some minor glitches, but I learned from this board that it is to be expected.
Thanks!
I bought my new X-Type from Haron Jaguar, Fresno. A pretty good deal through using a local (S.F.) purcashing service. I use Marin Jaguar as my servicing dealer and they are quite good. No problems so far, even to repacing a driveshaft in under 500 miles. But the driveshaft problems are real and well documented - believe it! - and I have also seen problems with differentials, so you have to be alert. Most of hte other problems are trivial and can be fixed with little trouble. If your local dealer is a weenie, then take your baby somewhere else. You probably won't need that much service (I hope), and the extra trouble will be worth it. Each dealer is recompensed by JAG Corp. for warranty repairs, so there's no reason not to cooperate. Unless your dealer's a weenie.
