I have pictures of the old speakers and will post them here when I work out how!
Your dealer is simply wrong. The speakers from the premium match fine on their own - my dealer confirmed this before he fitted them. The "extra" door tweeters and Rear Bass speakers "enhance" the sound and need the bigger amp to drive them. The result of only replacing the standard 4 speakers with 4 premium speakers is a solid full and tight bass sound. To be honest - with Bass & Treble set to flat it is a little heavy unless you like heavy rock or heavy disco bass sounds. Mine is set to Bass=0 and Treble =+2. The resulting sound is absolutely superb!! Still a fantastic Low and Mis bass. And a clear Mid range with sweet treble sound. My dealer was so pleased himself with the results that they are feeding the opinion back to Jaguar as a suggestion for improvement on future models. I was really disappointed with the standard speakers as they were so lacking of bass! I consider my self to be a Hi-Fi enthusiast and I like a wide range od music. I am now happy to go a run in my X-Type and listen to CDs for hours on end!!

Is there any way you can post a picture of the standard speakers that were removed. I spoke to my dealer today and he said there would be no noticeable change in sound quality installing the preiumum speakers without changing the headunit. I am not convinced. Any other insight would be useful.

Just had the speakers replaced on my X-Type. The standard ones are 6" Diameter, Paper Cones.

They have the following stamped on them:

Can anyone trace the Watts per channel?
