I have contacts in Jag in the UK, they are a big customer of ours; I'll try to network into the engineering department and find out a little more. Thanks for the good info. - Doug
Hello All,
I picked up the link lead yesterday from my dealer. Very simple cable and this morning went around to a couple of stores that specialize in car audio. Jags cable is PROPRIETARY !
Jags cable doesn't plug directly into any of the off the shelf Alpine units. I had my suspicions as the Jad CD changer has what seems to be an adaptor box on the back where you plug in the lead link and power connector. Both shops I checked said I would need a language interface to plug into the Jag connector. They gave me a number of companies that make such interfaces and said check before spending themoney on the changer unit.
One of the companies was Soundgate who I knoe have stated they are not going to produce an interface. They told me this in an email about a month ago. I have sent emails to the other companies so we will see.
If anyone else knows anything else I'd be very interested in hearing.
Pricing is a huge difference. The Jag CD changer is $666, link lead $13, Trim kit $186 and mouting kit $38.00. These are all Canadian dollars. One shop I went to mentioned the Alpine package they sell (same CD Changer unit as Jag)with language interface installed was $299. Someone is making big bucks on the Jag name !
So thats the situation at this point. I will keep searching.
Cheers
Robin
