I wish Jaguar or BMW would build a car with the quality of the IS and the Soul of the X or 3 Series Bimmer. That would be the perfect car. Or close too it....

My only comment is that I was not impressed by the IS300 when I recently test drove one. It had that same feel as a Corolla my roommate had back about 1980. You know, just didn't feel "solid".

I was very impressed by the new Infiniti G35, in every aspect except asthetics (the X-Type's long suit).

IMO, the perfect car in this class would be if you took the G35, redo the interior styling to copy the T-Type 100% (with the color availabilities offered on X-Types in the UK, not the reduced US menu), ported over all the exterior styling elements from the X-Type, and slap that leaper on the hood. In fact, given that a loaded G35 stickers $8-10k below a loaded X-Type 3.0, you could probably do it profitably. That would be a car - fastest in class, roomiest interior in class, and once Jaguarized the best looking in class inside & out.

IMO, when Jaguar redoes the X-Type in a few years they should make a deal with Infiniti and do it as a "shared platform" with the G35 instead of a Ford Mondeo.

NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. If it is so easy, then i want my wife to have the looks of Pamela Anderson, intelligence of Jody Foster, bed manner of a porn star, and the kindness of mother Theresa(sp). And i sometime wonder why i'm still not married;)
