First off a Beamer is a BMW Motor Cycle, a Bimmer is a BMW Automobile.
I own/have owned BMW's and Jaguars(currently a XJR and a X Type). Both are great marques, both do things there own way. Neither can compete with say Lexus in overall quality of product. YES Jaguar use better leather, I said OVERALL quality of product. Both BMW build there own idea of what the market wants. Responding too the idiots who post on any board just to geta response is a imature as the poster. Don't bite when you see some idiot posting for the sole purpose of a flame!

In and out of the BMW club and Jaguar club, I have come across idiots who proclaim that there car is the best and such and such is junk. There is no best car...it is a subjective thing that an individual has to answer too.

I didn't buy my X because it is the best in it's class. It isn't depending on what you want. If I wanted a faster car or better handling...the 330i wins hands down, I didn't want a Sport Sedan that was luxurious I wanted a Luxury car that was sporty. That is what the X is and that is what Jaguar is. It goes it's own direction...Jaguar doesn't try to compete with MB head on or BMW...it goes after it's own customers. I applaud Jaguar for what they did with the X Type given the perameters they were given. The car would never have been 4 wheel drive if it weren't built on a front drive chasis to begin with, it would have FORD Duratec engine blocks with Jaguar Heads, if jaguar wasn't constrained by budgits.

I think they did a great job with what they had to work with. Look at the Money Toyota has, and how poorly the IS turned out. It's a great Sportsedan with a fantatic engine(in line six as GOD intended a 6 to be), the best build quality, decent handling but NO character....no soul.

I wish Jaguar or BMW would build a car with the quality of the IS and the Soul of the X or 3 Series Bimmer. That would be the perfect car. Or close too it....
