The S-type 3L is more similar to the Lincoln LS, as it is mounted longitudinally feeding the rear wheels rather than the X-type or Cougar transverse arrangement.

Thanks, I'm dropping it into a Cougar. Is the X-Type engine the same as the S-Type? I know that the LS is slightly different. Thanks

What kind of car are you "dropping" it into?

The 3.0 block is essentially the same between the Jag S-Type, X-Type and Lincoln LS. (There are differences in the heads and induction systems).

I'm sure you can find a 3.0 from a wrecked LS or S-Type easier than from an X-Type as there aren't too many in the wrecking yards just yet.

If you have a 2.5 X-Type, it is possible to have an engine shop bore the block and replace the pistons to make it a 3.0. (But then you'd probably also need ECU changes).

If you have a 2.5 Contour, get a 3.0 from a Taurus and drop that in there.

THE BEST bet is to sell your current car and get a 3.0 X-Type (or wait for the supercharged "R" model).

Hey everyone, I love the new Jag, especially the engine. I love it so much I am wanting to drop the 3.0 block into my car. The only problem is they are etreamly hard to find. Does anyone have any leads on where I might be able to find an engine? Anyone know of any junkyards that would have them or anyone have a recently wrecked X-Type? (hopefully not) Thanks for you help.
