You might want to try Autozone.com to look up part numbers. I usually like to pick my oil filter up off the shelf myself, rather than let the teenage kid behind the counter make a mistake.

I looked up the '02 X-Type oil filter on autozone, and they came up with the following part numbers. Apparently they are the same for both the 2.5 and 3.0 L:

Brand Part #

STP S3600
Bosch 3422
Mobil 1 M1-209

I drive many miles a day, so my oil changes come more frequently than most. Usually I keep all of the oil filters and part numbers written down on a little piece of paper. That way I can just walk in to whatever auto store I am near and pick up what I need. It's strange that Napa hasn't entered the X-type into their system yet, considering it's been out for a while.

Ok... so I was told by a few on this board that the oil filter I needed was the same as the S Type. I went to NAPA and first asked for the X-Type, which was unavailable, so I said well? give me one for an S-Type. When I looked under the car they appeared to be the same size. After draining all the oil from my car and removing the old filter I find out that they are not the same. The hole on the new filter was much larger. Was I given the wrong filter? Wrong year (I said 02)? Where did I go wrong?
