Autoweek Long Term test...(m) (archive)

Autoweek has started a long term test of the X-Type 3.0 5 speed. The initial review is mixed. One comment is "other editors who benefited from a home-turf drive find this X-Type's manners have changed...". Another comment, "some editors are less than overwhelmed by its performance, despite the robust 3.0-liter's numbers." Their as tested 0-60 is 7.24 seconds. This figure comes pretty close to the latest Car & Driver and Moter Trend data and is a long way from Jaguar's published figure of 6.6 seconds. Autoweek stated that they still remain enthusiastic about the X-Type. It will be interesting how it will grow on them long term.
