Not that anyone probably cares about this anymore but I just wanted to through in the opinion of one of the younger self bought x-type owners. I'm 27 and have a fully loaded 3.0 sport and I absolutely love this car. I mention this because some people come accross as being jealous and I'm really not. I haven't had to wait a lifetime for this nor had it been my childhood dream. It's been more of a pleasant surprise. Before this I had a 5 year old toyota tercel which was my first car. It was nicer then the average tercel with a TRD body kit but I loved it because it was mine. I had to struggle to pay the $340 a month (couldn't afford a down payment). It wasn't until I had to send out those checks that I understood how much of a responsibility a car was. It wasn't until then that I could respect it. I don't think that a car alone no matter how nice is going to have any negative affects on a teenager as a person. There is a whole lot more in life than a nice car to aspire to and providing transportation can be a nice way to assist your child in achieveing there goals. I just wouldn't expect them to treat this car any better then a ford focus or something like that.

I currently drive an S type and I have had a few problems with it but nothing major. My only child, a son, is graduating from high school this June and I would like to suprise him with another car this time a Jaguar X-type but I would like to know if you think a 17 year old would look appropriate in a Jaguar. My wife and I have been looking at cars and we're hooked on the x-type or a boxster.
