I just checked Road & Track's "Road Test Summary". It's on Pg.132 of the May '02 issue. It lists the 0-60 time for a 3.0 manual as 6.5 sec. The date listed for the test is 6/02. 1/4 mile in 15.1 sec.@90.7 mph. I don't have a copy of that issue, but since this test was run in June '01, I assume it could be of another prototype. The latest issue of Motor Trend has a 3.0 auto at 0-60 @ 7.9 sec. (date of test 11/01) and a 2.5 manual at 0-60 @ 8.5 sec. (date of test 12/01).
And there's the rub. As I recall, Jaguar claims 6.6 for the 3.0 manual and 7.1 for the auto. Also, IIRC, the margin of error for these tests is about 0.3. So, 7.9 is slower than the claimed 7.1 by a significant margin. Beats me whether anybody has a legal case there (I'm no lawyer), but I can tell you it would give me pause as a consumer.
