You are absolutely correct. That is why we need someone from Jaguar to agree that which they sold in the past and that which they are currently selling meets published specifications. They have every right to say that X types shipped from this date forward won't meet spec and the new spec is blah blah. However that change of spec must be made public knowledge as soon as possible.
Anyhony,

Just remembered that manufacturers usually have disclaimers on their brochures, so I checked the Jaguar X-Type borchure. It reads:

"IMPORTANT NOTICE
Jaguar Cars Limited is constantly seeking ways to improve the specification, design and production of its vehicles and alterations take place continually. Whilst every effort is made to produce up to date literature, this brochure should not be regarded as an infallible guide to current specifications, nor does it constitute an offer for the sale of any particular vehicle."

I assume this disclaimer would relieve Jaguar of any liability with respect to differences in actual horsepower or performance data VS. what is listed in its brochure.

Mike

I see some of you get defensive, but the question is very simple. Are all the specs in the brocure, especialy those of HP and acceleration, guaranteed by Jag and Ford?
This question has nothing to do with you liking or not liking the X type. It has nothing to do with how well the X type is selling. The point is that no one from the upper eschelons of Jag or Ford has posted that they stand behind their specs. There is no defense for them to not honor the specifications as printed in the brochure. Is anyone from either of these corporations out there?
