In that case, US dealers should allow buyers to sign an agreement form that commits them to purchasing an individually-optioned car so the burden is removed from the dealers. That way, some of us who would like to further customize our cars in non-popular combinations can still get what we want here in the US. Wouldn't this also reflect more positively in JD Power surveys, too?!

It would be great if we could have the choice of choosing individual options here in North America. There are also some interior color choices that we are unable to get. I believe the reason manufacturers bundle options here is because, not only do they make more money, but can offer "packages" for less than it would cost for all the individual options ordered seperately. I understand the main reason is because when a car is ordered in Europe, you are obliged to accept the car when it is delivered. In North America, customers can refuse delivery on cars they ordered. If these cars were ordered with options and colors that are not popular, the dealer is stuck with the car.

I will not buy one because of a lack of flexibility when it comes to the horrible option packages.

In the UK we can have whatever option we want in the sports model. We can even have wind down rear windows if we really want!

I always thought Jaguar and other manufacturers gave option packages for the US market because that's how you guys like it. Most manufacturers are beginning to do "packages" in the UK (eg winter pack, clear vision pack, etc), but we can still choose individual options within those packages (eg if the winter pack includes heated seats and heated windscreen, I can still choose heated seats without getting a heated windscreen).
