I was making a broader philosophical point about the intellectual evasion that most of us seem willing to participate in without thought to its consequences.

I have seen this in other message boards, and usually the board becomes nothing more than some back and forth "DON'T FEED THE TROLLS" and "YOU S**K" type of exhanges.

I do fairly frequent reloads of the main page and thus see a high percentage of the trolls and the twits. (Alan can't catch everything every hour of the day.) Honestly, it is not that bad. I really don't think that there is that much controversy in owning an X-type (with a few minor exceptions in some BMW owners) anyway that would lead to that much flaming. I think Alan has done quite a good job when he has stepped into a discussion that was getting heated and said "Hey, get some perspective and cool down!" That's just fine and has always worked.

And I thought if nothing else that I had tried to present my perspective in a "civilized" manner...
