i live in southern cali, the mecca for all imported cars, and to date i have only seen 2 X so far, one BRG on the mountains, and one silver one (of all places) in the grocery parking lot. That's pretty good considering you see BMWs, Audis, Lexus, MBZ, not to mention the countless SUVs everywhere...part of me wants the X to more popular but a better part of me is also relishing the exclusivity :)
