As long as neither you nor I, own the server or maintain this forum, we should be willing to abide by the rules aet out by Alan, the moderator. Posts that have differing opinions, or provide an alternate point of view are both welcome and educational, in my opinion. However, comments that are obviously meant only to provoke anger, and without having any material content, does not have a place on this board. I applaud the moderator in his desire to maintain an atmosphere of sanity and mature expression of ideas.

Thanks for removing the junk posts that appear here from time to time as quickly as you do!!

I'm not so sure about that. (Not the part about some posts being junk, but deleting them.)

The site presents itself as an open discussion board, where the "members" are free to bring up any topic they like, regardless of its accuracy or approval by other members.

To censor some posts presents issues. Aside from using arbitrary guides to squash unfavorable dissension (fine fluid line here that can be crossed at will), the major issue for me is reflected in this modern obsession we have with historical revisionism.

This is particularly bad in the US (and I presume that you are in the US for your IP). People in the states have developed a taste for a sanitized, non-offensive existence. Anything that is unpleasant should be stricken from the record as we stick our heads in the sand. Problem is, that doesn't make things disappear and trains us to be incapable of dealing with sensitive issues.

Of course I am talking here about much broader issues than mr. lallimar or Mr. LLORT or any other trolls. I am talking about something that has adversely affected the zeitgiest. However, how we deal with the unpleasant fringe is very telling on our philosophy and does eventually propagate through to larger concerns.

So, the best I can say about "the junk posts that appear here from time to time" is just to ignore them and *PLEASE* don't encourage them, but also understand them as a product of free and robust discussion.
