Taimur,

Because of the high sulphur content in diesel fuel in the US, those engines are not able to easily meet polution regulations. The only manufacturer that offers a diesel in car at this time is VW. Mercedes will import a diesel in the next year or so. Until we are able to lower that sulphur content, it's a shame, but not many diesel engines will get approved for use, especially in California.

jag are developing a diesel engine for future cars x and s type. how do u all feel about this???????????

about time too. The new generation diesel engines are very good, with loads of torque and good fuel economy, and with the amount of engine noise insultation that jaguar have in their cars, I don't think the noise difference will be a problem.

Do BMW/Merc/Audi sell diesel cars in the US?

Taimur
