I went out and found my service records from my three different encounters. Unfortunately, I found the following:
Driveshaft #2: C2S-21762
Driveshaft #3: C2S-21762
Driveshaft #4: C2S-21762
The fourth/?fifth driveshaft has been trouble free, even though it is the same part #. I went back and compared the number to Jon Kennedy's post and found that it matched his first driveshaft part #. Now I'm concerned that the noise may return. However, this last time they changed my rear differential with part # C2S-17249. Could that have been the fix? Or is it changing my front rotors and pads? Now I'm really confused... One other interesting point that I should mention is while reviewing my third visit service record, I noticed two entries regarding the driveshaft. The first entry had the comments : "Worn diff/def centerbearing wja replace diff with new replace propshaft nec to drop sub frame to access mount road tested car quiet." The second entry had the comments:"Bent mounting brackets wja replace prop shaft with new." The two entries where timed differently. The second entry had another part # of C2S-21762 for the propshaft. Could this have been a FIFTH driveshaft replacement, only this time they did something to the mounting brackets?... Very ponderous... Anyway, I am no longer hearing any noises, so I'm going to leave well enough alone. Any comments are appreciated...
