Jaguar, like everyone else these days, is gunning for BMW. To ignore that is to have your head in the sand. The Luxury car market is growing rapidly, and BMW is right in the sweetspot. Jaguar risked weakening the Jaguar brandname with the X-type for one reason, to go toe-to-toe with the BMW 3 series.

Before the X-type there wasn't a Jaguar available at this pricepoint. Most people who buy the X-type could never before afford a Jaguar… so don't kid yourself.
