Yes, most of us Jag owners appreciate the relative rarity of Jaguars compared to BMW and MB. Who wouldn't? That does NOT mean that we want Jaguar to build an inferior product. As Mike eloquently pointed out, the main concern expressed in this forum about your recommendations is that most Jaguar enthusiasts do NOT want BMW characteristics in their Jags. Your response was that all you want is more hp in the X. My rebuttal to that is when keeping price fixed, you can't add without subtracting. Here is a case in point regarding the F-Type:

"Some aluminum body panels would make the F-Type lighter and faster but more expensive. Using steel would require a more powerful engine to achieve the necessary performance, again adding to
development costs." - Automotive News / March 25, 2002

The X-Type 2.5 has enough hp for me, and I would not have purchased the car if it were any more expensive. Nor can I think of anything in the current car I would subtract to get more hp and keep the price the same.

Further, I cannot disagree more strongly with your assumption that the X-type's success relies on stealing BMW sales. I did not consider the BMW3 when I purchased my X. If the X did not exist I still would not have considered the BMW. As I stated earlier, Jaguar is and should be an alternative, not a competitor, to BMW.
