Yep - can't compare results from different sources, and results <0.3 seconds apart from the same source are not statistically significant.
If you look at the Road & Track Road Test Summary, they list the 0-60 for a 3.0 X-type as 6.5 sec., 1/4 mile = 15.1@90.7.
Unfortunately, that is with manual transmission. The same source gives a 330i with automatic transmission 0-60 in 6.5 seconds - if a 330i with an auto trany is just as fast as an X-Type with a manual, the X-Type with an auto trany is in trouble. That said, the R&T test is encouraging because it is the only test I've seen yet in which the car ran pretty much what Jaguar says it does. Unfortunately, I've yet to see a 0-60 time on an X-Type with automatic that ran anywhere close to Jaguar's 7.1 second claim. That's what's got me worried.
