Yes, acceleration is important. I put about 18,000 miles a year on a car. For the last 4 years I've been in a BMW 328i (E36). Most of the time it does fine, but several times a week I find myself wishing for more acceleration than I have in real life traffic situations -

Left turn onto 4-lane road (traffic flow >60 mph) without a traffic light (every time I leave my subdivision)

Merging onto the Interstate after the guy ahead of me came to a complete stop at the top of the ramp.

Merging into the middle lane (traffic flow about 70-75 mph) from a position trapped in the right lane behind the truck doing 40 mph that preceded me up the ramp.

Given the frequency of those situations in my daily commute, I've very reluctant to trade down in acceleration. I love the X-Type's looks, and if Jaguar's claims (0-60 in 7.1) were true there would be no issue, but from the reviews I've seen there is an issue.
