The X-Type R will be (presumably) a competetor in performance & price to the BMW M3, the "AMG"-badged Mercedes, Audi S4, etc... - a different class of car. The class I was referring to is the $30k-$40k "sport sedans", made up of the X-Type 3.0, BMW 330i, Audi A4, Volvo S60, Saab 95 Aero, Acura TL Type-S, Infiniti G35, Lexus IS300, etc... To be true to the Jag tradition, the X-Type 3.0 should be second to none in its class.

i mention the r becuase you said the xjr leads its class. notice the xj8 doesn't? the x-type will probably follow the same pattern.
