Greg,

I totally agree that the X-Type IS not and should not be a BMW 3 Series. There are too many manufacturers trying to copy that car now. The X-Type has fantastic handling and much more comfort than the 3er, and that's what makes it unique. I would also be first in line to buy an X-Type coupe, as long as it was offered with a manual transmission and kept its traditional Jaguar characteristcs (wood, chrome, leather).

Insider: Although there are innumerous comparisons of the X-Type to the bmw 3 series, I for one am the kind of customer that values luxury and "gentleman" trimmings over sport/racing features.

I say Jaguar has carved out its own niche here and shouldn't shoot itself by trying to be a bmw. Not everyone wants a bmw.

Personally, I do not have the personality to own a bmw (b.s. / a.h.) if you know what I mean. I like the idea of being able to own a classy, luxury sedan like the Jaguar.

No Estate for me, but a sweet 2-door postless hardtop coupe would be superb.

My advice would be to adjust the suspension to more silently absorb road irregularites while keeping the current handling capabilities.

THAT will get me into MY next Jaguar.

Thanks for listening.

BRG not being replaced, new jaguar racing green coming soon MAY replace emerald nothing confirmed. As you can see on earlier posts problems are being worked on and are being fixed on newer cars. Remember it is a new car and problems will be ironed out, your faith will be rewarded in your future purchases when you will find real changes. New estate looks fantastic no pictures for you yet, will be on sale early 2003..
