I wonder if we're all getting a little paranoid over something so trivial!
I had a Land Rover Freelander prior to this car, and for a car designed and built under the BMW banner I must state that the JAG has been a dream!.
my freelander had..
- new clutch slave cylinder on day one
- replacement engine after 6 months
- new suspension bushes and rubbers twice
- main headlight pointed two feet in front of vehicle
- loose seat mountings
- Sunroof flew off at speed
- electric windows seized twice
- etc. etc. etc.
All of these plus some I can't remember on a car with low to mid mileage (and not a first year car).
And the Land rover dealer advised over 6500 BMW 3 series cars with a similar replacement engine problem!....did'nt make the UK press though - funny that!
Enjoy your new gentlemans carriage with pride.
I just picked up my X-type 3.0 with a production date of Dec 2001.
Appears that the leaky windshield fluid problem is still there. I thought I read a post earlier that a lot of the issues have been resolved by late 2001. I can't see how a January 2002 produced car be so different from a Dec 2001 car.
