It *can* be set for the X-type. When I took my car into the dealer (Weaping Washers and Rocking Seats), the head of service told me he didn't even know if it could be done. I told him it could, and he could call regional for info.

They didn't fix the rocking seats, but I can now do a global close with the key fob. (Just to be clear: That is with the remote from a distance.)

Sorry to hear about your issues.

Also sorry to hear about the puddle lights as I too have a 2.5 Sport, and I don't have them from what you are saying.
