Researched Reasons why the X-type sucks (archive)

Just thought I'd inform you all of how much X-type's suck. First here are some comparison results by Motor Trend:

'01 BMW 330xi
Price as Tested: $41.335
Engine: 225 hp 3.0 I-6
0-60 time: 5.8
Quarter Mile: 14.4s/96.0 mph
Braking 60-0: 130 ft
Slalom: 62.0 mph

'02 Jaguar X-Type
Price as Tested: $43,695
Engine: 231 hp 3.0 V6
0-60 time: 7.9 (6.3 from C&D)
Quarter Mile: 15.9 s/88.8 mph
Braking 60-0: 132 ft
Slalom: 61.3 mph


As you can see the BMW speeds up faster, slows down faster, and is cheaper. Oh yeah, and it's been on C/D's 10Best list for the past 11 years. Why would anyone pay more for a souped up Ford Contour, especially when it only has a V6...inlines are smoother, better balanced,and have the ability to put out more power(Motor Trend). Does the engine on your X-type say Ford? I'm so sorry you felt compelled to waste your money on an imitation of the Ultimate Driving Machine.
