It is a soft constant-pitch whine-no grrrr! It is not too objectionable (so far) but I'm comncerned that it might get louder.

Was that a "Whin..." sound or "Grrr..." sound? I just got my car back from the dealer and now I have both sounds. The dealer made it worse ;-(
"Whin.." at 78-82MPH and "Grrr..." at all speed.
I have contacted Jaguar Corporate Customer Service. Hopefully, they can help me.

Andrew

As I've posted previously, my 2.5 manual started whining at 3200 miles between 85-95 MPH during both light throttle and deceleration. It stops during transition from throttle to coasting and goes away below 85 MPH. It is constant in pitch and not very loud. I have not yet contacted my dealer on this.

I have a X-Type 2.5 auto, and it has whinning noise above 72MPH. It is noticeable when the traffic is light on a smooth highway. If I just tap the accelerater, the noise
comes back. If I release the accelarater, the noise goes away.

I took it to the dealer 3 weeks ago and it is still in the
shop (This is the 2nd time I took it to the dealer). The dealer admitted the whinning noise. They changed the drive shaft, but it made worse. Now, the dealer is saying that
the whinning noise is on "every" new X-Type, and they cannot do anything about it.

Has anyone experienced this noise? What step should I take
next?

Thanks,
Andrew
