Besides the fact that AWD and Dynamic stability control are standard on the 330xi, you really have to drive both to feel the differences. The x-type is attracting people based on its uniqueness and luxury aspects. The 3 series is a perennial favorite for people who love to drive.

Read the posts on this board over the last few weeks and you will see that people are having many problems with their new x-types. Many of the cars howl at modest speeds, all seem to have broken trunks, etc.

Dear SpidermOn,
I am an happy owner of a 2.5 Sport X-Type but I have to admit that for the 3.0 I saw a comparative test and the engine of the BMW was superior compared to the X-Type Unit but braking, handling, traction and driving feeling (it was written that it is due to the different traction system) were reported to be better in the X-Type.
I think that the BMW 3.0 engine is really an asthonishing unit for performances (accelleration, fuel consumptions etc).

Regarding the troubles reported here I want to make a comment. I was the owner of a 316 several years ago and the employee of my father have series 5 as company car. To summarize everything I will just tell you that they decided to buy Audi as company car now due to the troubles they had (most of all electric faulty). My father has a 330ix touring now and we are keeping finger cross.
I am not saying the BMW is bad, I am just saying that all the brands have troubles. The X-Type is a brand new model and teething problems are a well-known trouble for all the brand new car

I am just trying not to be partial and I think you also need to do that.

Best regards

Riccardo
