Here's my earlier post on the JAGTALK.COM that "solved" the problem for me:

Mike,
Just got inside from playing with the trunk. I tried locking and unlocking and also pushing the green button but it did not help. The lock was engaging and tripping but would not hold the claw shut. I dropped the seats and tried from the inside of the trunk. There is a handle INSIDE the trunk which made this a one-person job. I finally pulled on the emergency cable and the lock
clicked. After that all was well, so the problem had something to do with the emergency cable. I pulled out the slack on the cable, tripped it, allowed the slack to stay and let the Velcro grab the handle. All is now well and hopefully you just saved me a trip to the dealer for this. Keep up the helpful comments, that's one of the major benefits of this BB!

This was only a temporary fix in that I now only use the button to open the trunk. Sometimes it still does not catch and I resort to the emergency handle and cable trick again. I understand there is a redesign in the works and I'm not sure if it has hit the dealer yet. It is annoying, but not enough so for me to leave the car at the dealer yet.
