Kelly, thanks for the info. I had brought the car in for the whining problem and the dealer said they knew nothing about it. They said they would check with their tech guys and get back to me. That was a few weeks ago. I called with the info you provided and they said "when would you like to bring it in?". I was a bit suprised that the resonse wasn't "I'll check right away and get back to you" They must have known something for such a quick response. THanks again and I'll let you guys know what happens as my x goes in on ttuesday.
To all who have posted about the noise when its cold, from about 30 to 50 MPH, etc. There is a service campaign for this that includes the counterweights and a rear propshaft (driveshaft) replacement. The Lap joint is causing the noise. The Jaguar Service bulletin number is XT205-01.
